Position

Robert Maciorowski earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Illinois Benedictine College in 1971. He received his Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law in 1974, where he served on the Law Review as a staff member, Associate Editor, and Case and Comment Editor.

Robert began his legal career at Seyfarth Shaw, where he practiced from 1974 to 2000. He then cofounded Maciorowski, Sackmann & Ulrich, LLP and practiced there from 2000 until 2019. In 2020, that firm merged with Rusin & Maciorowski, Ltd., where Robert continued his practice until his departure in 2023. He joined Gannan & Shapiro as a partner in January 2024 and practiced there until March 2026.

Throughout his career, Robert has focused his practice on workers’ compensation defense, third-party liability, employment law matters, including ADA, FMLA, and retaliatory discharge, as well as general labor-related litigation.

Robert is admitted to practice in Illinois and is admitted before the United States Supreme Court; the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, including the Trial Bar; and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and active member of the American Bar Association and a founding member of the National Workers’ Compensation Defense Network. Robert is a Fellow of the College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers and holds an AV Preeminent® rating from Martindale-Hubbell. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, Leading Lawyers, and numerous national legal publications for his excellence in workers’ compensation and employment law.
